I wanted to date this atheist but he turned me down because I'm a Christian. Are all atheists like that?

I'd have thought that was a pretty major incompatibility.
Why would you want to date an atheist, if there was no possibility of marrying him?

I'm single and an atheist, but then any woman who wanted to marry me would have to be mad, and why should I marry a lunatic?

I could be friends with a Christian girl, but I take dating to be more than a "passing the time" activity.

Yes, all the millions of atheists in the world are like that.

Many atheists try to stay away from the issue because it only causes stress and fights. Stress and fights =/= a good relationship, so some atheists will try to stay away.

In America, the atheist population is so small, you can't really be that picky.

No. Very few of us actually care whether someone is a Christian or not. Considering that 75% of the U.S. population is of a Christian denomination, it would be very difficult for me to find a date if I refused to go out with them.

This is a good question. I've wondered that about myself.

The truth is that I value qualities such as rational thinking. It is very rare that I encounter a believer (of most religions) that have that.

I think I could if it was the right person, who was fully aware of the limitations of a faith-based belief (or was open to understanding the concept).

Yeah, I would and have. I've dated GUYS who claimed to be Christian...lol. Both atheists and Christians come in many different flavors.

Yes of course, the real question is if a christian would want to accept and date me. There is no handbook for atheism, but there is for christians.

It depends on the severity of the belief. I couldn't date a "bible-thumper," but I would date a Christian who leaned more towards the agnostic side.

No. I do not let religion dictate who will be my friends or lovers (when I was single), or who will eventually be my spouse.

I think it is a good thing to be exposed to many different perspectives about many different things. How else can you know if you have made the correct decision?

I do not fear other opposing views.

Sure. If it's just a brief thing about bodies, you can avoid the subject for the duration.

If it's more long-term, you can usually talk them out of it in a while.

I couldn't stay with a theist for very long, though.

depends. In general I'd not date anybody who wants to change me into somebody else as a condition for liking me. So I wouldn't date somebody who wants to convert me in order to be acceptable to them. If they can let me be what I am, there is no problem.
