I went to Hong Kong several years ago. I enjoyed it, but didn't find the shopping all that great. I had been to Thailand right before that, and found things much cheaper there.

Definitely yes, if you know where to go. For example, if you want to look for gadgets and electronics, go to Apliu Street Flea Market and Sai Yeung Choi Street. For computer parts and accessories, there are this places in Wan Chai called Wan Chai Computer Center and Golden Computer Arcade (not sure about the second one, though) where everything is priced competitively. If you want to look for cheap men's clothes and items, go to Temple Street Night Market. If you are lucky you may be able to come by fortune tellers and impromptu Chinese opera performances. For cheap women's clothes, items, and children toys, go to Tung Choi Street ("Ladies Market"). For sports items, go to Fa Yuen Street.

Also, if you want to have even more CHEAPER prices, go to Shenzhen, near the Lo Wu/Luo Hu Border. There is this mall just near the border that is truly a budgeter's paradise. However be careful because not all of the items there are authentic. My advice: keep on bargaining and bargaining until the prices go down. ^_^

It depends on what you buy. Some are cheap. Cell phones, electronics are cheaper. However, if you go to brand name mall such as Times Square, Pacific Place looking for brand name clothes, then that's different. Another cheap place is Ladies market in Mongkok, also Temple St night market. Those are cheap.

I go to HKG many times in a year... i do my shopping there and it's really called the shopping paradise..ive just been there this last nov..,
everywhere you look at and everywhere you go, it's hard to leave a place empty handed... you need to have credit cards and money with you so you wouldn't regret not buying something youd love...
visit central, it's heaven...visit kowloon you cant say no to everything you see...
it is CHEAP! if you want authentic stuff, go to gateway at harbour and central... but if you want just so so and cheap items replica, kowloon is the best place... temple st market is also a good place to do your shopping...

When I went on my business trip in HK this May, I was surprised how expensive HK had become compared to my last visit in 2000.

The hotels were outrageously expensive. But of course it is really cheap compared to the UK.
