In my opinion, that's quite ingenious. I would never have thought to do something like that when I was 14. Now, however, I look to just such things to make me realize how lucky I am. I wouldn't worry about looking at sad things to make you feel better. However, if you are frequently sad, you might want to talk to your parents about it. You're too young to be so blah. :(

Everyone copes with things in a different way and it sounds like you're going through the "why am I depressed when my life is better than other people" kindof guilt trip.

Used to think that myself and get really down trying to understand why I was feeling like this until someone reminded me that Albert Einstein gave us the answer - "everything in life is relative".

Your life might be better than theirs in some ways, but it doesn't mean you can't feel down. Unfortunately there are some things in the world we can't solve, but if you do want to help perhaps either find a local charity that needs a bit of help or if you can earn money (not sure about your local laws) then you could donate some to charities which have people able to help those kids.

You're not a bad person for the simple reason that you're concerned about this. If you were self-centred and uncaring you wouldn't be asking here...

Just remember - you're as important to the world as they are and you're allowed to have good and bad times just like them.

Most 14 year olds I know would rather go shopping when they feel sad and depressed. That is an unusual way to get over your sadness, but it is a wonderful one. No way are you a bad person. You are an example to us all.

No not bad person - I find that counting my blessings works for me too. I try to find a list of five things htat were nice about the day - just small things before i go to bed and i savour them - thinikng about the experience again.

I will say you are a very wise person, dear child.

Whenever we felt miserable for no real reason but that our friends were luckier than us materialistically, our parents would tell us to see those who were below us and count our blessings...

Yes, its like counting our blessings and being thankful for what we have. For there are millions who have nothing going for them and are still surviving...

There is absolutely nothing to feel bad about yourself!!!

Cheers!!!

I don't think you're a bad person.

Sometimes people just need a reality check & you found a way to give yourself one.

So even though other people may think this approach is weird, you found a non-destructive way to self-medicate.
