1. I like to keep it on it's side to help with the look. Otherwise I use a soft cloth like the ones for eyeglasses.
2. If you can get on the internet there are some great ones to download that are free, real cheap or fairly inexpensive. We have as much fun with those as the more expensive titles.
3. It's worth it (IMHO)... I ended up buying it a while ago. Bluray discs are amazing and the remote is very handy to have.
Anything else...
There are a few quirks... Personally I think they release software updates too frequently. I don't play all that much, and it seems that every 3rd time I play there is another update I have to install in order to use the online features.
Overall we've been very happy. Keep your eye out for the DualShock 3 coming soon... gives the "rumble" like the PS2 had. We'll probably buy a couple giving us a total of 4 controllers. That'll be fun on some of the multi-player games.
Have fun!

hey, im in your exact situation, i just got my ps3 for christmas. Well, I'd say the best way to clean the smudges is get a dry hankerchief, thats what i do, and i just wipe it. also, i got Need for Speed Pro Street, and i love that game. I want to get Madden 08 for it, and also Assasin's Creed. that game looks amazing. Also, pretty much all the EASports games look pretty cool. like fifa, and ncaa games. But idk about the blu ray deal, if you have a dvd player, don't waste money on it. unless you think blu ray is better. Lastly, Some stuff my uncle told me about the PS3 are: keep it away from a heater or any heat source, because the ps3's get pretty hot on their own, and you don't want it to over-heat and make sure you don't place it directly on the carpet if you have pets, cuz it will get loaded with hair and other fuzz and stuff. I hope this helps ya out a little. happy holidays.

1. I would probably use a disinfectting wipe or a paper towel with some windex shot on it.
2. I'm going to get my 80GB in about 2 hours, yay! But I would recommend Ratchet and Clank, Rock Band or Guitar hero, Assassin's Creed, or Resistance: Fall of Man
3. I would go for that deal, I've heard movies are much easier to watch with the remote, and if you bought your PS3 I think there's a deal that you send in your proof of purchase or something and you can pick 5 free blu-ray movies, so I would also look for that deal.

1). Soft cloth. Also cover it with a piece of cloth, when PS3 is not on;
2). Resistance - Fall of man - nice FPS
Ratchet & Clank - Tools of Destruction - great adventure game (best graphics for PS3 exclusive, the best graphics I've seen);
Virtua Fighter 5 - if you like fighting beat'em up games.
3). Get a remote if you p[lan to get a decent movie collection on blu-rays.

1.Don't know about that one but I think you can get special kits from some gaming stores for that though.
2.Call of Duty 4 is a must have short story but amazing multiplayer and Ratchet and Clank is pretty good.If you can wait until 2008 there will be mercenaries 2, Haze an extraordinary looking FPS from Ubisoft, Burnout:Paradise the first free roaming Burnout, Devil May cry 4, Fifa street 3 and many more.
3.Not unless you have a HDtv because if you don't you won't see the difference.
Hope I helped

wipe the smears away with the crotch of your clean underware its really soft rite.plus motostorm sucks i got full auto 2 battlelines its pretty cool if you like to really blow buildings aprt and busses and gas tankers wait till flatout ultimate carnage comes out and get its great if you like crashing games as for the blue ray discs wait till they come down in price because they are just not worth it to buy at this moment ok there tring to push bluray on people at the moment and there not worth it the ps3 should have came with a remote that will work just fine i hope this helps you can always mail me if you got any more question man oh and also to watch out for thoes updates because i found out as a punishment for not doing the updates when they tell you to it deletes all your game progress it suck i know so its best not to hook it p to the internet unless you do the up dates when they tell you or sony will wipe the internal memory card on purpose

Dust it with a soft cloth and don't be too worried, it won't stay new forever.
Call of Duty 4 rocks, and F1 2008 is stunning
The deal for the remote is pretty good especially if you get two good discs.
Mostly, just enjoy it.
