Granite will work just fine but it usually has a very smooth surface and that can make it very slippery. It also is not completely resistant to scratching. Cost can also be higher than ceramic tile.

Contrary to what many think granite is not porous so that is really not a consideration. Marble can be porous and is much softer than granite and will wear in time. Look at older building that have marble steps, they usually are very worn.

There are many ceramic tile finishes that resemble granite or stone and are much better for floor surfaces.

I say keep granite off the floors of the kitchen and high traffic bathrooms. Granite is very porous and will soak up liquids causing it to stain. If you have children Granite is definitely not the way to go......use Marble instead!

My parent's kitchen has granite floors. He has to clean them EVERY SINGLE DAY. It becomes an obsession, keeping them clean.

It cracks easily

It stains easily

It is expensive

And, it is generally slippery so you would hate it after the hundredth glass is broken and you have busted your butt (and wrist) a few times.

Huge price tag.
Very hard.
Can chip.
Will stain.
