I want to lose about 5-10 pounds over the next couple of months. I have stopped buying lunch out at the gourmet store and have already lost 5 lbs by doing that. I read somewhere that Elizabeth Hurley eats a lot of soup to stay slim. Does this work?

Soup is good because it is filling and low in calories. However, be sure and select broth based soups NOT creamy soups or you're defeating your purpose. Creamy soups are high in fat and calories. Stick to vegetable, chicken noodle, etc. :)

Depends on the soup. Some soups are extremely high in fats, and salts and lots of extra calories. Avoid the cream soups.
Make up some tasty soups using lots of veggies, Make them with lean meats or with meat stock you can buy. Add good veggies, french style green beans, shreaded cabbage, can of stewed tomatoes, and or tomato sauce. some onions if you like, some potatoes would be ok, lots of carrots and whatever spices you like. Optional would be some rice, pasta, corn (tasty but more calories)
At my house we have a "clean out the refrigerator day" and make up some soups using all the left overs. (well, at least the compatible ones)

Healthy and great on those cold days and low caloried also.
Sorry, no cornbread.

Yes, especially since soup are pretty filling & nutritious.
Japanese & Chinese usually end their meal after a moderate bowl of rice & dishes with a bowl of soup. That's why they fill full warm & fulfilled. That's also why the rate of obesity among Japanese are low and most of them hv. small tummy.

Usually these soup are either veges., seaweeds, with bone/meat stocks or creamy type like pumpkin/tomatoes etc. just don't put so much salt, cheese, creamer into it else it ain't helping your waistline at all.

Aah yes, although Elizabeth Hurley eats a lot of meat + soup but she's also a yoga practioner. She denies of exercising. But being a typical English woman in luxury, she loves horseback riding, swimming & yoga and often indulge in it to destress <-- thus that itself burns the carbs. & fats.

It can be, but be careful, a lot of premade soups, or soups in cans or boxes are very high in sodium, which is no good ♥ But if you opt for low sodium, or make the soup yourself, then it is a good idea

Yes, it works. One of the best working diets is the cabbage soup.
I can suggest you to try Winter diet - made by dietitians and very healthy. The secret is that every day you change the type of food intake.
Good luck!

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit for me personally. It's tastier and gives you that tad of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to slice back on sugar and lose weight vegetables

i agree with other posters that soup can be filling and good for your diet, but avoid creamy broths and be sure to watch the sodium content!
