Nope. It is but another trick employed by those who wish for you to follow your "feelings" instead of coming to God by grace thru faith in the finished work of Christ.
Sigh

I don't believe in being slain in the spirit either! It's false!! So is speaking in tongues! Let me explain? I was deceived for a long time by going to ASOG CHURCH! Sorry if I offend a lot of people but it's the truth! You need to search your scriptures more! If you look up the true meaning of the word it means" Languages. In Acts 2:4-5 When The Disciples received the "Holy Spirit" They are spoke in different Languages! Not tongues! That's just gibberish!! There's no place in Scripture that confirms tongues! IT'S FALSE! I'm going to ask all who believe this practice to listen to a Pastor name Pastor John MacArthur; He's Anointed By "God" And He has a CD out called: The Simple, Surprising Truth About Tongues-Acts 2:4-5 Please, Please give Him a chance, or should I say yourself. Believe me, I was misled for years. God says to warn them, I'm warning you know. Once you know the truth, it's up to you to search the Scriptures. Believe me I was terribly hurt for a very long time when I first found out. But rather my emotions then my Soul! Your Sister in Christ, Jennifer

the only two accounts that are in the bible of people being "slain in the spirit" were actually slain by the spirit.
I do not believe it is biblical although I do believe in speaking in tongues. (and I do attend a Pentecostial church-Assembly of God)
Acts 5
Ananias and Sapphira
1Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet.
3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
7About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8Peter asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?"
"Yes," she said, "that is the price."
9Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also."
10At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

I don't remember reading that phrase in the bible, but some preachers dream things up, like for example the Rapture. This terminology is not used by the Bible at all. Preachers and some churches use it, but they get it backwards. They think the good people will be taken to heaven, when in reality the bad people are removed by death, and the good people remain to bring in the Millenium. 144,000 High Priests representing the 12 tribes of Israel will meet him. Full Judgement does not occur for 1000 years, when the celestial beings will be taken to heaven. Another dreamed up interpretation of the Bible which when read correctly is pretty darn true, even though it is missing several books.

According to the Pentcostal churches, people overcome by emotion in church fall backwards and they are then said to be slain in the spirit.

First demonstrate what the spirit is, then ask what it means to slay it.
