Just pull the vinyl up. It's not that hard. If your floor is less than 10-15 years old there is a good chance the glue used was water based. You would just need to soak the stubborn glue spots and then they should scrape right up.

No, don't do that. It will eventually buckle and look ugly. Go to Home Depot and get a vinal floor removal tool. Looks like a big scraper. Remove flooring. Take time to learn the proper way to remove vinyl floors and installing ceramic floors.
Most home improvement stores have free classes on this kind of stuff.

You can do anything, but it's not smart to apply ceramic tile over vinyl flooring. Not only will the grout not stick as well as it would to the direct cement floor, but it won't be even.

Don't be lazy. Do it right.

No. Go to www.tileshop.com. You must have a firm base to apply ceramic tile.

No way. You need to always take it down to the base either wood or cement. It needs to be a clean surface. If you lay it over something else you don't know if it was done right, and you run the chance of having to take it all up,and redo it.Better to do the job right the frist time.

no, vinyl flooing usually has a cushion layer. If you attempt to apply thinset over it directly, the movement in the cushion will make the thinset crack and cause a complete failure of the installation
