no....what matters is how he will lead this country....I personally do not care about his religion, and I am a Christian.....I have to admit he seems to have some strong leadership skills...and would probably be somewhat successful in getting the cooperation of others in governmental decisions. I have not decided yet who I will vote for.

If it does, then being of ANY religion should. Let's just become communists so there is no religion. It makes just about as much sense to do that as to vote for someone based on their religious beliefs. People of this country have FREEDOM OF RELIGION. Why are we not making a big deal out of Obama's being Muslim??? At least Mitt Romney is CHRISTIAN!!! Obama can't say the same.

I don't care what a candidate's religion is provided he doesn't pander to any particular religious group and start mixing religion with politics. Once a candidate goes there - I take issue. I also admit that I will not vote for any candidate who is openly for creationism or ID and against Science - because IMHO that will hold us back from progress - and we don't need to go back to the middle ages.

No, it dosnt. But if the man no matter what religion he is as long as he is still a good person. Being a catholic or chrisian or mormon or something else dosnt make you a bad person.
Im Mormon and i dont think anybody outside of the mormon religion is a bad person. THERE NOT!!!
I dont care if you smoke or drink your not a bad person!
The presedent can be whatever religion as long as he runs the country right!

Does it disqualify a PERSON from being president? No of course not. But his beliefs should not be enacted into any laws of a secular society as we have in the US. The founders of our country went out of their way to put in the Constitution a policy of separation of Church and state, with good reason. As as long as the person understands that and makes it their policy, I have no problems at all with his or her religious beliefs.

No. Would I vote for a Mormon? Probably not.

There's not supposed to be a religious test for President in this country, but of course there IS. After all, that's how we wound up with the numbnuts we have in there now. So I, as an atheist, will take my opinion of organized religion with me to the voting booth, and it will be one of the factors that I consider when I'm determining which candidate is rational and intelligent enough to hold the highest office in the land - particularly if a candidate has made a point of exploiting his own supposed faith for political gain.

Nope.

We've had Catholic presidents, Quaker presidents, Jehovah's Witness Presidents, Protestant Presidents, why would a Mormon be any different?

There are some Mormons who would be great presidents (Mitt) and others that would be disastrous (Harry Reid).

No because I'm not religious and no major candidate shares the same opinion as me there. I'm not just not going to vote. Mormon doesn't matter; dumbass does.

Well, no... but supporting the stuff Mit supports does.

I also happen to think that believing the origins of the BoM denotes a certain amount of gullibility, but that's just my opinion...

Edit: Cricket, that jerk that went to prison is to Mormons as Fred Phelps is to Christians. That's not a fair assessment.
