They needed to evolve the ability to play instruments, which took a while.

lack of electricity.....and practical recording devices......they tried recording thier musics by chiseling on stone tablets but were unable to produce more than one a day.....hardly the way to top the charts with a bullett! Also the tablets were big and bulky and didn't travel well......later someone came up with 8 track tapes but those proved to have the same problems.

Jumping back and forth between strings took a loooong time. And trying to tune a stone guitar took even longer when all they had to work with was those teeny tiny little legs.

Hey, where do you think they got the expression "Rock" music, anyway?

LOL - I was wondering the exact same thing!

I think it had to do with waiting for the electric guitar.
