The battery is a good one. You can point out that the ancient Egyptians made one (several thousand years ago).
Same thing with ball barrings, they were made by the Romans first.
Your report could show who made them in modern times and then throw in the evidence that we just rediscovered them.

The catapult is a good invention yo make its pratical and fun, its fun because u can put something in it pull the string then something can go flying. I think it was made by the Romans.
