You realise that by posting such a question you are inviting public scrutiny. Some will say you are heartless because you don't just get rid of a dog like an old shirt that no longer fits. Others will demand a public whipping behind the barn. The tongue thrashing you have opened yourself up to will be intolerable. You'll cry because no one understands you.
They'll ask: how can you get "rid" of such a loyal companion?
Why would you want to?
You'll be ridiculed in front of millions worldwide.
SPCA may help but at this time of year they are flooded with unwanted pets..People should not give pets as a Christmas present unless they know the receiver can handle it.
I'd love to take your dog but I'm in Canada and shipping costs would be too much.
There must be some free sites you can put it up for adoption. We have Kijii, where a lot of people put up FREE pets. You must have it there too.
I'm sorry to see you want to part with a faithful friend.

If you are posing this as a serious question, then you must be pretty heartless. Is the older dog no longer fashionable or interesting?
If you don't want two dogs then it just goes to show that pets don't make good Christmas presents, and if you want to get rid of one then you should make it the puppy. Take it back to the breeder so they can find it a good home or sell it through the classifieds. A puppy is young and still has the chance to adapt to new circumstances and be trained easily. The older dog would find it very distressing.
If you can't bear to part with it, keep both- and make sure you give your older dog the same amount of attention. The poor thing.

All I can do is hope and pray you are joking. If not you are completely sick. Do you understand if you take the poor dog to the police station they will put it down and the dog homes are full to bursting at this time of year so unless it is a puppy it will most certainly be put to sleep. If you do have an heart after all which I doubt you would keep the poor dog but if you still want to give it away you don't deserve any of the 2 dogs and whoever bought you the new one wants shooting!!!!

Large Dogs?

The only kind thing I can think of to say about this is that you were probably drunk as a skunk when you posted this meaningless and irresponsible drivel. If by some chance you were even slightly serious then you dont deserve the title of human and dont belong in this universe with feeling and responsible people.

How stupid are you. Just because you have anew toy you are going to get rid of the old one. You don't deserve to have one dog let alone 2.

If you insist on getting rid of your old dog then at least have the courtesy to put it into an animal shelter and not just dump it on the streets.

Loser!!!

"want to get rid of my eldest dog"

you perhaps shouldn't be owning ANY animal if that's your attitude..

keep both of them..

I'm guessing this is a wind up question.. coz no person who even liked animals would post such a stupid question.

if it is true.. well i hope the pup chews the s*** out of all your shoes and the older one drops one on your nice carpet.

If that's how little you value your older dog, then you don't deserve the pup you were given.

To be kind to the dog, give it to a local rescue group. Obviously you don't give a darn about it and it deserves to be in a home where someone loves it and cares about it.

you shouldn't have any dogs at all if this is the attitude that you are going to adopt.
you cannot just replace one dog with another. never mind whether they are older or not. just because you have had a puppy doesn't mean that you can just et rid of your older dog. this is so unfait to the poor animal

I agree with all the above comments that you should not have any of the dogs. I lost a dog more than 10 years a go and I still think of him everyday. I think someone should contact www.rspca.org (RSPCA) and let them deal with you.
