I have two male cats. The older one is a year and a half old, about 25 lbs and neutered. The younger one is 6 months old, about 5 1/2 lbs and unneutered. The smaller cat has been mounting the older cat. While this doesn't bother me, I'm wondering if this is bad for the older cat's health?

I do indeed plan on getting the little one neutered as soon as I have the cash...they are both house cats and not out tom-catting : -)

Of course it isn't bad. Maybe a little humiliating...but not dangerous. The nuetered male is probably less hormonal and less likely to to take severe offense. Best bet go get the little one Nuetered asap. you don't want him to start spraying. If he is mounting he will be spraying shortly and that will ruin him as a pet. you don't sound like a breeder.....so get this taken care of for everyones' sake. Believe me the physical ramifications of an un-nuetered male are much more serious than the....errrr visual.Good Luck

I don't think its bad for the older cats health, but he probably doesnt like being violated =) I would suggest you, as Bob Barker would say, control the pet population, get your kitty neutered =)

Sunny, 25lbs is massive for a domestic cat, cut down on the cheesecake is my advice for his health, his big enough and plenty young enough to sort out the youngster!
