What do eating walnuts do to your body? Its it suppose to lower your blood pressure and how much is enough to eat? Should you eat it everyday? Its just my mother bought a bag of walnuts for my father and he says its good for the body and since its 'good' he just ate it all in like a day and a half but we tell him to eat it in moderation.

Walnuts are great because they provide us with monounsaturated fat. This is a good fat that cleans out the arteries, lowers blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol. Other sources of this fat are olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, avocado, and other nuts.

But you are right, FreshFace. You have to eat it in moderation because even thought it is a good fat, it is fat. And too much good fat is just like eating bad fat, plus it contributes to weight gain and does not produce any health benefits. He needs 1 serving a day.

A serving of walnuts is 2 whole walnuts (that is 4 halves). Your dad eating the whole bag does him more harm than good. I know, 2 walnuts is not much. One way I suggest is to crush them and eat them in salad or soup. Or if your dad just likes to eat them whole, he can either eat 2 walnuts daily or combine them any way he wants and skip walnuts on some days of the week. For instance, he could eat 14 walnuts in a day and not eat any walnuts for the rest of the week because 14 is what he would have eaten that week.

Good luck.
