My relatives who I'm all close too keep getting married, and keep getting divorced, then keep getting married, etc.

Each wedding is a time for "gifts", but I'm getting kinda burned out doing this.

How do you tell your relatives that you just want to get them gifts on their first wedding?

you don't 'tell' them, you just don't keep buying gifts for every marriage......

If you don't attend the subsequent weddings, it is ok to just send a nice card congratulating the couple. Most couples will not mind - in fact, many people getting married for the 2nd or 3rd time don't want or need gifts, but there is no polite way to say "no gifts" on the invitation (I know because I'm planning a "no gifts" wedding myself).

Unless they are re-marrying the same person it IS their first wedding to each other. There's nothing wrong with getting them a nice card and a picture frame, or some other inexpensive gift just as a token. If you are bent on not giving them a gift then decline the invitation and just send the nice card.

I feel the same way, I have relatives on my husband's side that have been married 2 or 3 times within the last 6 years! I usually find a nice card and a picture frame to give to them (JCPenney and Kohls have cute frames that are less than 10 bucks).

It might be that when they divorced, their ex took most of the kitchen stuff with them or they want new stuff to start anew with their new partner. It also could be that the person they are marrying has not been married before like they have and they would like the experience of a wedding shower like all other new brides. It is not a law that you have to opt in on all the showers.

Gifts are never required for a wedding, so just get a nice card congratulating them on their wonderful day.

lol... dont tell them! that would be kinda rude...
Besides marriage is something important, and is not like they are getting married over and over JUST for the gifts, but they werent lucky with their partners.
I'd say just get something small just to wish them good luck and happiness... who knows... maybe this will be the last one =)
