I go regularily to my dermatologist, and tried Accutane, which I think has worked best, but also dangerous. I am 31, how much longer do I have to deal with this?

Candy, sorry you are joining the adult-acne-club. I agree with some of the answers that it is very typically a change in hormones (stopping taking the pill, or simply that "stage" of your adult life).
Many dermatologists go for antibiotics and other topical remedies. Unfortunately you have to try your options out for at least 3 months before you see real results.
In the mean time, try not to over-cleanse, since that really just strips your skin from natural oils/moisture and it only aggravates the condition by giving you flaky skin.
If your blemishes are localized (mainly the chin or forehead) getting on a contraceptive might help. If your acne is more widely spread, a good 3-6 months of antibiotics + Retin-A will do.
Also, you might want to try doing makeup (while it all clears out) and don't forget to get your face washed and moisturized every night!
Best luck!

I'm 34 and still have Acne. Some birth controls will help or alleviate it. However, it's basically due to hormones. I'm sorry to say. Even though I was my face regularly, I still break out.
You might consider birth control. I had great luck on Yasmin for Acne, however I didn't like the other symptoms. It was actually too much hormone for me. I went back to my old faithful LoEstrin and let me tell you I didn't know how much Yasmin was helping with the out breaks until I changed back to my old birth control.
As far as how long, nobody can really say. Since most of it is due too hormones.

I am 33 and have it bad at times, then it just goes away! it realy depends on what foods i eat, if I drink a lot of milk or eat hot and spicy foods I love very "hot"! and spicy foods! if i have large amounts of corn products! I drink a case a beer a week, if i stoped that it will also clear up! if i take over the counter allergy pills it will clear it up almost compleatly!!! when i go out on the town or clubbing, I take two alergy pills 14hrs before going, it clears it up compleatly! I think its a food allergy thing if to much of one thing is comsumed, or a combination. I can handel a little of the things I listed but not a lot! Its like a body food chemestry thing! I am sure that is what it is! change your diet might be allergic to something and thats is how your body reacts! try allergy pills to! I only take allergy pills when i now i am going out, or have eaten something, I should not have in large quantities. I can drink a gallon of milk in one day if i start drinking milk, I "CRAVE" it once i start it just takes one glass. heard thats a sign of a food alergy dont get it but what i heard from a nutirishinist.

I can sympathize, Candy: I have a similar problem, and that's because I have oily skin- especially around my nose.
Try wiping your face with rubbing alcohol. That will get up excess oil, and kill the bacteria that are often associated with acne.
Good luck!
