There is no question in my mind it's all been "worth it."

I have a profession which allows me to participate positively to make my community a better place. It is rewarding to go home knowing I've helped people live in a safer environment.

The only regrets about this profession are those who tend to second guess what officers do while doing their job!

You can take any profession and find a "bad apple" in it. Law enforcement is no different. The problem is when the profession is stereotyped by the few who make their accusations without any fact whatsoever!

Yes I enjoyed my career.

Positive: Get to interact with people every day. Each day is different. I did everything from writing parking tickets to greeting an ex President on a detail I was on to protect him. To arresting a person for murder and being a back up officer on shots fired calls. Helping to save people.

Negative: Seeing people die. Having to deal with the problems of society. Bad guys are that. Bad guys. Seeing child abuse.

Was it worth it. Yes. I worked in a factory for a summer hated the job it was boring. Police work is not boring.

If you have the opportunity do a ride along with an officer. You can see the job up close and personal.

Don't pay attention to Joe Iwojima, he's a women hater, anyways, It is worth it, if you like it, for me, I did like it, but it wasn't my calling, I guess I could say that, positive, is that you help your community become a better place, and help people. Negatives, at times you would see things that you don't want to see , deal with bad a** people, once in awhile, and deliver bad news, to family members. Good luck

Definitely. It can be very rewarding and very tiring at times. I get tired of only seeing the negative side of things all the time but in the end you realize that you do your job for the best interest of everyone. It is very easy to make enemies though. Good luck!

zee, I have seen some pretty women join the PD and become monsters. Women tend to be less aggressive and look for a desk job to leave the street asap. Stay in school, start a business and make some real money. PO 37 years in a large urban dept.
