Well hopefully it is in a covering of some sort,(ziplock bag) then in the cheese keeper part of the fridge. Depending on what kind of cheese....as some keep for months, try to use it if it isn't dried out like a rock...in a about 3 weeks.

I would think that a package of opened cheese should be able to stay in the fridge in perpetuity or at least as long as the fridge holds up. Now there will be some changes to the cheese due to aging but those things shouldn't hinder it from being kept in the fridge.

it can stay for a long time if it is wrapped well. if mold forms just cut it off.
