Using blue painter's tape would take about 24 rolls to tape both sides of the 2 in lines. Since it's for a school, we really can't afford that much tape. Does anyone have any tool suggestions that might work?

I need to paint lines on a vinyl tarp for a high school solor guard. The amount of tape we need (about 25 2in wide rolls) is too much money and would pull up the paint we already have down.

you may be able to use cardboard or paper and use it as a guide line along the edges- just make sure the cardboard and paper is cut to a straight line- maybe use some plastic type tape on the edges of the cardboard to make it more durable and be able to wipe it off and keep using it over and over. oterhwose you can buy a couple yard sticks, metal scrapers, or something with a nice sharp edge to them

Since it is for a school, you might try asking for donations of tape from your various local paint and hardware stores. I wish you well!! If even just 1/2 of the tape was donated, it would cut your costs. Or approach a wholesaler, or get it through a contractor. Use your networking skills to connect with the people you might be able to source this from. You never know what could happen!!
