Hi, I got a ticket for speeding in Ohio state a few days ago and I am ready to pay fine. I am leaving Ohio next week to NJ. My license will expire in feb 2 , So however I have to apply for state change to renew. So will the 2 points on my ticket will go-off if I change the state or what will happen and is there any way to remove them. This is my first ticket since I got my drivers license in 2005 . I am even considering defensive driving course and do I have to take it even I change the state.

No, any points on your license will follow you wherever yu go. You can take a defensive driving course that may lower your insurance and eradicate yur points. Call your insurance agent. good luck! Yeah.for New Jersey! My old hometown.

Do you have an Ohio drivers license? I think the record will follow you in the states you are licensed in. If not, I think it depends on the state. I have gotten tickets in states other than my own and it still didn't show up on my record. This was a few years ago. But it might be possible that I was lucky enough to get tickets in states that dont share that information if it was cited on an out of state license. As long as you take care of the ticket (ie: dont ignore it and let it turn into a warrant) I dont think they tell the new state about it.

Tickets from States other than where you have your license, do not usually put points on your license, however, you may find that by getting a license in another State will include the info and transfer to the new license.

If NJ and Ohio reciprocate, your points will follow you and - if you think Ohio is tough on bad drivers, wait until you get here to NJ.

Not only will you pay a bundle AND a surcharge for mandatory insurance, but your points will take a long time to go away.

States have what are called reciprocity agreements. If you have issues with your license in one state it will generally follow you to where ever you move. If they have traffic school it is best to take care of it in that manner and get the matter removed from your record.
