I'm not sure but I guess one opiece means when a bathroom has only the toilet and two piece means it has both toilet and a bathtub/shower facilities.

Most one piece toilets are more expensive. This does not always mean higher quality though. It does give a "cleaner" look to the room. Two piece are cheaper (depending on the brand you purchase) and parts for repair are more readily available. When purchasing a toilet, look for full glazing through the trapway. Some models do not have this and it collects dirt faster and slows the flow of waste. Check the diameter of the discharge hole. They vary from 1-1/2" to 2-3/8". Bigger IS better. Look at the working parts in the tank. Are they flimsy? Plastic parts do not make them less effective as long as they are sturdy. I like toilets with Fluidmaster fill-valves. Very dependable.
