I would definetly say yes. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I don't see why because (and i'm being liberal with this assertation) Joseph and Mary named their child Jesus, he should get the rights to the name, they could of named him Bob, and now wouldn't that be interesting?

I think all things being equal, the religion would be hypocritical to bar the naming of a child Jesus. That being said, that Child is going to get razed by almost everyone they ever meet, not to mention the parents.

Edit: I live in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. don't know many Jesus', He zues's etc. The razing comment is dependent of location / culture.

The name Jesus (hey-zeus) is still the same as Jesus (as in Jesus of Nazareth) but just pronounced differently. It has the same meaning and refers to religion. I see nothing wrong with it. Just don't name your teddy bear Jesus.

Jesus is actually a very common name amongst Muslims. Except it's usually the Arabic form of the name, which is Isa.

Je Zus? Sounds like a crappy rap name.

I think Jesus is a nice name. Of course, some Catholics may disagree, but they always seem to pass judgement (even though their religion is based on not doing that).

I guess. Many name their sons "Joshua". It means the same thing. Jesus was a common name at one time. It has become sacred over the last sixteen or so centuries because of obvious reasons.

Spanish speaking people do this all the time, they pronounce it in Spanish, like Hay zoos. I don't know of anyone who pronounces it like in English for a child's name, in English this would be considered very bad taste or blasphemy, depending on your beliefs.

You could if you wanted to. Spanish speaking people do. English speaking kids would tease and pick on your son so for that I would think twice before naming my child Jesus.

Few Filipinos are named Jesus but are mostly pronounced as "He-sus." Well, you can freely name your kid Jesus. But if you were to ask me, better find something else. That name sounds awful for me (not giving disgust to Jesus Christ). hehehehe

Yes. It is OK.
I see some people telling that in the Spanish speaking countries the pronounciation is "hay soos" or something along that line. The correct pronounciation is

"heh SOOS"..... the "hay" sound is wrong.

personally i wouldnt name my kid Jesus. Because its a holy name and i think it is kinda a disgrace because as humans we sin, but Jesus was and is perfect. so to name a human that sins Jesus would be a disgrace.
God bless:DD
