the good news for the woman is that the ring was given on a holiday, so it's considered a gift, and she'll get to keep it even if she calls off the wedding. Personally, I'd rather have my wedding on or near a holiday, as opposed to getting engaged on a holiday.

No. I would want my boyfriend to ask me when I least expect it. On Christmas you tend to think it and it seems like a gift. Like your Christmas present is marriage. I want it to be unexpected and on an ordinary day. But if you got engaged congrats!

I have to admit, I got the boyfriend down on one knee asking if I would marry him in front of my brother and sister and their kids.
I hadn't seen my family in over 20 years because I was busy partying.
