For 50+ years I was sad because I was an abused child. I always saw myself as a victim. It affected my life on many levels. This sadness had become such a familiar part of my life that I hardly noticed it at all.

One night as I lay in bed I ask if there was some less distressing way that I could view my childhood. After I asked I realized that it was silly. I knew that my childhood was awful and that there was no other way of seeing it. I even remember sort of apologizing to the universe for asking such a dumb question.

When I woke up the next morning I immediately thought about my question from the night before. I started to think about my life and every part of it seemed absolutely perfect. I was dumbfounded. No matter what I thought of, it all seemed perfect.

It all looked like the perfect set of stepping stones to lead me to the exact moment that I was experiencing. A moment where I loved myself just the way that I was. A moment where I realized that the experiences of my life helped me to understand what was truly important so I would become the loving husband and parent that I was.

I realized that I would not change a thing for fear that if I did, I might not have reached the understanding I had gained.

Be careful what you don't bother to wish for. You just might not get it.

love and blessings Don

the light of God is in everything; some choose to ignore it ; some demand for it to be shown b/c of self fulfillment demand which stems out of their own ego; God has provided for and we are protected by; if someone does something special for you, do you demand from that person to know why ?? sometimes you have to be able within you to accept a gift and then know how to just say thanks; some people on here , need to lift every stone and demand an answer why the stone is there? EGO is a hunger never satisfied , always thirsty , never fulfilled b/c self is too busy worrying about me me me to see the light that shines down on you each and every day.

To suffer horribly for months is unspeakably tragic, and must not be made light of. To watch a human being suffer so, especially one who is dear, is inexpressibly horrible.

Where is the light? It can be found in many places. You may learn to express unknown compassion at the suffering of others. One may gain insight into the mystery of life. The sufferer may learn to place him or herself in the hands of God, to put past hurts and minor afflictions in their proper perspective. One may learn of one's total dependence on others.

I am not suggesting that suffering is God's way to teach us things. But while we suffer, God still is present to bring us comfort and love. Some suffering seems pointless, especially when inflicted by carelessness or human hatefulness. But "light" comes in many packages. The death and resurrection of Jesus have this message. Pain, even pain that is not merited, leads to resurrection.

But it still hurts, and it is still unbearable, for the sufferer and those who care for him/her.

I think that all the people who come together to take care of any sick person are doing "God's work." I do not believe God causes illness, so if you're looking for someone to say that the illness is a tool to bring good into the world, you're not going to hear it from me. Illness is a result of it being an incredibly complex world and our bodies being infinitely complex... the miracle is that ANY of us is EVER healthy, given all that could go wrong.

the time he can handle the sufferings/pain is the light of God.
when you say for months.. that period is the light which still did not turn to darkness !! there is difference when you extinguish candle or when it gets off by itself !!
take yourself deep down in your heart & be in silent for while- the light will come up and make you understand the real meaning behind all this. !! just try !!

I am an atheist but I'll admit I know a few people that have turned their life around after "finding" God. In my opinion, what they really found was the strength to take control of their own destiny, but hey, whatever works.

Many Christians will claim that the fraction of one percent of people whose body manages to fight off cancer are blessed by a gift of God.

No one asks the other 99.999%

i haven't had anything that drastic, but i'm in a healing circle and a pagan church. often, i'm not feeling well [it may be from bad sleep or depression], but i force myself to go to ritual. i always come away from these people feeling refreshed and optimistic. not the light of 'god', but the light of the lord an lady, and it shines brightly in my pagan family.

I am hoping that one day God will reveal to this world the darkness and hate of religion.

Some criminals have turned their lives around by finding god.
So I'm told anyhow. But you need to give yourself up to a 'higher power' in rehab, so as a therepy tool, it's fairly usefull.
