Is there a process to go through to get them or does my husband just need to study and go take the test? Does my hubby need to go to any kind of driving school to get them? Thanks

I have a class A CDL (semi truck) & I can tell you a school is the best way to go. There is so much he must know. Before he goes to school, he needs to have the learners permits. Your state where you live can tell you which sections of the booklet he needs to study. Have all of that done before he applies that way he can go right in and be done w/ it. See the link I provided. It's what I did & I make good money now. Tell em driver 31603 sent him. That way I'll get a little bonus one day. Thx & G'luck!

It really depends on what "class" of cdl he is wanting to get and in what state he's getting it in....In iowa, heres what ya need; 3hrs of class time, pass written test with 90%, need to pass pretrip test without missing any, Pass driving test without missing any.....and he MUST HAVE a clean driving record for at least 3 yrs before even attempting the before mentioned.....Like I said, not sure what it is for your state. Good luck and safe driving.

He would be much further ahead to go to a school. Most companies want at least one years experience or a completed class.

In Michigan there are A, B, C, plus endorsements. There many truck driving companies that will train you for free, you don't get paid for it, but it is free.
