The crown and filling from a previous root canal, have come out. I guess i need to go to the dentist and get a new one. but my insurance only covers 1000$ or so. How much does a crown and filling cost? also, do i need to a specific kind of dentist for this?

A Crown is usually about 900$. Now if you have had a root canal and you had it crowned i dont know what kind of filling if it was a silver or white filling but insurances usually dont cover them 100%. They may only cover about 50-80%. I would call a dentist you shouldnt have to go to a specialist for it. But i would call and have them check prices and how much your insurance will cover also some insurances will only cover a crown once every 5 years so i would check with that and see what is covered. If it was a new crown they would cover it but since its a pre existing crown they may not. ALSO if you still have ayour crown i would bring it with you cause they may be able to cement it back on as long as it didnt break a piece of tooth off when it came out. So
1st- call a dentist or insurance and find out what they would cover
2nd-if you still have the crown put it in a baggy and bring it to the dentist with you to see if it can be put back on.
GOOD LUCK

a crown after a root canal are meant to last for life, if possible I would go back to the dentist that did it and make him do it again for free. Failing that, it is a matter of replacing the crown...count on 1200 dollars or so, your cost.

A composite filling is preferred over amalgam while amalgam has more durability than composite. The average filling cost for amalgam is between %50-150, for composite it’s $100-250 and for porcelain or cast-gold filling it’s $250-4000. So in light of all the above facts and statistics, a patient or reader can figure out where to get his teeth treated and which filling type will be affordable for him. Have you an idea how much do fillings cost?

I'm going to the dentist too next week and it's my first time ever appointment. Because I don't really take care of my teeth and I am regretting it. About your question. I think a crown would cost around £400-£500 it depends on your dentist because here in isle of man it costs £350. Per tooth. Very expensive I know.
