I think, just like all other it's a very good religion, teaching everything good and no evil...however, there are some rotten apples who are spoiling the name of the religion.

Fist of all the three western religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam have LOTS of similarities. Actually the one God that is spoken of in all three is the same God. Yahweh, God and Allah are all the same person. The only difference in the three is the figureheads. For Jews, it was Abraham (correct if I'm wrong), for Christianity it was Jesus and for Muslims it was Muhammed. Muhammed fully recognized Christ a prophet of god, like himself, and Muhammed only claimed to be a prophet, not divine. Islam essentially teaches the same things as Christianity... that there is only one God, that you should surrender to him, to give charity, encouragement of prayer, etc Though these things may be worded a bit differently than they are in Christianity, the essence of them is still there. The Islam that most of you are speaking of when you say it is violent and evil and opressive would be the form that the modern day EXTREMISTS practice... unfortunately, that is the only form that most Americans are familiar with, and so it has become a common misperception that all those who practice Islam are violent terrorists actually represent Islam and what it stands for. Not true!! The violent suicide bombers and things of that nature are similar to the way that people like David Koresh or Jeff Lundgren use the Bible to defend it's teaches.... it's all about distortion. Seriously, quit letting the evening news and local newspaper be your only source about the outside world and read a copy of the Qu'ran. You'll be shocked at the similarities between it and Christianity.

I don't know too much about it. I learned a little bit in a Humanities class, but that was years ago. If I'm not mistaken, I think Islam originated from the Jewish religion? Either way, Jews and Muslims (and some Christians) all claim the common ancestory of Abraham.

Muhamad had an angel appear to him and tell him about Islam, or something like that. Anyway, Muhamad became a prophet. I think Muslims believe Jesus existed, but only as a prophet (but not as great a prophet as Muhamad). I think the Koran teaches that Muslims shouldn't affiliate with non-Muslims, but it isn't a violent or hateful text.

Like I said, I don't know much about it. I am not a Muslim and I don't have much knowledge about their religion.

The Islam faith started in 600 AD and was based on a book put together by a rogue Mohammad self claiming to be a prophet of God. An unbiased study of the Koran shows that far from being a "miracle" the book is a hoax.Once the Koran is scrutinized with rational thinking, almost every sentence proves to be false. The Koran is replete with scientific heresies, historic blunders, mathematical mistakes and grammatical errors. Could possibly the author of this Universe be as ignorant as it appears in the Koran? The Koran tells Muslims to kill the disbelievers wherever they find them (Q. 2:191), to murder them and treat them harshly (.9:1213), slay them (Q. 9:5), fight with them, (Q.8:65 ) even if they are Christians and Jews, humiliate them and impose on them a penalty tax ( Q.9:29 ).Koran takes away the freedom of belief from all humanity and tell clearly that no other religion except Islam is accepted (Q. 3: 85 ). It relegates those who disbelieve in Koran to hell ( Q. 5: 10 ), calls them najis ( filthy, untouchable, impure) (Q 9: 28). It orders its followers to fight the unbelievers until no other religion except Islam is left ( Q. 2 : 193). It says that the non believers will go to hell and will drink boiling water ( Q. 14: 17). As you can see they worship a god totally different from the God (Yahweh) of the Holy bible. Allah stems from a pagan deity who were moon worshipers.

Islam (like every other religion) has been corrupted by people

When studding a religion one must look at the time it was created

Women under Islam (what the Koran actually said not what laws people pass) are a lot better off that pre Islamic days--the Koran gave woman the right to own property LONG before European sisters did

Islam promotes peace not war/terrorism. The word Islam means 'to submit yourself/your soul to God'
Islam doesn't say kill innocent people, Islam doesn't say force people to becomes Muslims and if they refuse kill them.
Islam says live in peace and harmony with your neighbors whether they be Muslims or non-Muslims.
And YES PROMOTE the message Islam but do not use force. If you are hurt be patient and God will help you.

Who said Asama Bin Laden caused the 9/11 attacks. In fact did you know he is only a prime suspect and there isn't any direct evidence to relate him to the attacks.

Not only this did you know there are over a 100 other hypothesis based on who caused the 9/11 attacks. Including one which blames George W. Bush, then why do people not blame him as much as they do to Bin Laden.

Do not promote theories but promote the facts. Even Islam says when you are told of any information check it up for yourself before passing it on to the next person.

Please do not judge Islam because of the bad deeds of a few but judge it from the good deeds of millions.

Well I don't think it makes any sense preaching about how good it was for muslim women in ancient times, long before eurpean women had the same rights. We must look upon the situation today, then you see that islam is a very backward religion, promoting terror and fear. No other religion encorages holy war in their scriptures, as far as I know.

Hi there, I KNOW that Islam is the complete way of life, and when I say complete way of life, it really is the complete way of life. It tackles all aspects of life including cleanliness, marriage and also how you should respect parents as well as many other things. Also The holy Qu'ran is the first and last testament, unchanged ever since it was revealed to the Prophet Muhummed (saw)
I love ISLAM. And Please everyone, think about what you are saying, you cannot judge a religion based on its followers, please find out yourself and make up you own mind, dont let the media change your mind...

Peace

Islam is just like Christianity and Judaism.

Its holy text can be used to justify great violence or peace towards others.

Followers of all of these religions can be influenced by men claiming to have special knowledge of what the text 'really' means, which leads them to great love or great hate.

Humanity is the driving force behind them all.

It is an old an honorable faith. I say this as a Jew. However, it would seem that a lot of Muslims allowed their religion to be hi-jacked by those that would use it to promote hate and intolerance. This is not a new approach, anyone remember the Crusades?

One of my best friends since childhood is from Iran. I know his whole family and can tell you that they are very good people.

This is my comment about the contradiction in the holy Quran which was written by Lion of Judah

# 1 What was man created from, blood, clay, dust, or nothing?
The answer is From all that ..
Adam was created from nothing like everything in this universe was created from nothing .the clay from which Adam was created..where it came from? from nothing
The clay comes from dust mixed with water so no contradiction in this

Then come the verses of Adam's dynasty creation the verses says that we were created from a dynasty of clay which is from Adam since Adam is from clay
Another verse says we were created from Notfa which sperm drop ..and clot that is when the sperm mix with the ovum and develop into a clot .

# 2 - Is there or is there not compulsion in religion according to the Qur'an?
Those verses you mentioned were reveled to fight those who stand against the words of Allah.. they were necessary to spread His words ..Not to compel them to become moslems no but to fight them because they chose to stand against God
The verse NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION
That is absolutely logic no need for compulsion in Islam .. nothing will be accepted if you were compelled

# 3- The first Muslim was Muhammad? Abraham? Jacob? Moses?

"And I [Muhammad] am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam," (39:12).
Please note the word I AM COMMANED and the word OF THOSE
It doesn't mean he is the first it means God commanded him to be among those who bow to Him
#5-Does Allah forgive or not forgive those who worship false gods?

Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed," (4:48). Also 4:116

The verse is quite clear it says that He doesn't forgive pagans but forgives anything ELSE to anyone He pleases except associating another god with Him
I will write another translation of this same verse it might make it clearer
(Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.)

# 6- Is wine consumption good or bad?
The verse states that wine has two edges one is good in the sense of people make profit by selling it and has some sedative effects which we all know but the verse states that its disadvantages are more than its advantages that's why the forbiddance of it was conclusive.
