i recently (last night) used veet hair removal gel to remove hair from my legs. around my right knee cap, it burned, blistered, and bruised my skin. It also made it bleed and created open sores in that area. It is still inflamed and red. It slightly bubbled up, last night. My mother is a nurse and said to treat it we should rinse it thoroughly with cool water. We did that. Is there anything else we can do or anything that will help soothe it. Also, will it scar my leg?

It depends how deep the burn goes. If it was just the epidermal layer (dead skin tissue that is quickly replaced as it sloughs off naturally), then you should not have a scar. If you damaged the dermis (layer with capalaries, nerves, and hair follicles), then you may indeed have a scar. It sounds from your description that it was not that deep of a chemical burn, so I would guess you will not have a scar.

Try aloe cream to soothe the discomfort.

OUCH!

I've tried using those hair removal gels. But the truth is, anything that is strong enough to eat through hair is probably going to eat through skin too- with the results that you've seen. Needless to say, I don't use them now.

It might scar at first- but it will fade. Meanwhile, try using aloe gel on the area. Aloe is well known for helping burns heal.

Good luck!

The best thing I have found for burns is the nectar from an Alvera plant.
