I should explain, the visitor was unexpected and the rest of us were watching a programme.

A visitor would be "rude" to assume that they could come in, decide on other programming and then change the channel. This is truly ignorant. I wish you well.

It all depends on where I am. If it's at a good friends house, and we were just hanging out, then yes, I would. But I'd change it back if they asked. If I were visiting to talk, then the TV should be off all together. If I was with a friend that I haven't known for a while and we were just hanging out, then I'd ask before changing the channel. If I was with a lot of people watching a show, I wouldn't change it. And if I was with a lot of people to talk, the TV should be off all together. If it was a big party, I'd change the channel if nobody was watching it, but if someone was I wouldn't. If I was with a lot of people, some older and some younger, I'd change the channel if it was inappropriate for the younger ones. And if someone asked to change it back in this case, I'd only do it if the children left. So it's all about where you are and who you're with.

I'd know it was a miracle, since we don't have a remote for our television. The stupid thing somehow got lost three moves ago, and we've had to change the channel by getting up and punching the television button manually. We also don't have any kind of television reception except for the broadcast local stations, and none of those has religious programming. And I seriously doubt that Jesus would want to watch religious programming ... he was a more 'get out and do' sort of man who gave talks or made miracles, and I think he'd still want to do the same sort of thing. I do have a very special towel set for him, though, if he wants to take a shower ... it's far too expensive for us, and there are two of us, and only one set, so it's been waiting for Jesus in case he stops by for the past 8 years!

No. Don't get me started. Yesterday we had to watch programmes a visitor was watching, then when we wanted to watch something we were told no cause they didn't like to programme.

Then in the house where I grew up my cousin moved in and high jacked the remote and watched absolute tripe. It made me want to punch her.

Depends on the situation. I might not have an issue with it, or I might. If I was into the show, I'd be pissed and take the remote back and change it. If I were a guest visiting, I wouldn't touch it unless the host says "feel free to change the channel".

say "excuse me, we were watching that." If the visitor has any manners, they will say, "Oh I am sorry!" and change it back and put the remote down. If they don't, they will leave it on theirs and you will b forced to watch what they want. If you have manners you will watch what they want without complaining or walk away. Be sure to note that if they don't change the channel back they are rude and not to allow them in your house again until they learn some manners.

I would not do it. But I know plenty of people who do, I think it's very rude to change the channels on some body else's TV. You should watch what the person you are visiting is watching. Like it or not.

I might if I was staying at someone else's house. If I was just a visitor, like dropping in for a chat, I would hope they would turn the TV off altogether whilst I was there!

If the person asked if he could and the host agreed, fair enough. If he just gragged the remote and changed the channel, he is really rude and I wouldn't trust him im my house, he has no respect for what belongs to other people.
