Are you having an allergic reaction? Is that what you mean by 'bad'? If you experience any trouble breathing, have swelling to face or throat, you should be checked by a Doctor. They may give you an antihistamine to help control the allergic response. If its pain at the site of the sting, make sure the stinger has been removed (scrape it off/away with the edge of a credit card or something similar). Ice for a few minutes (ice wrapped in cloth, not directly on the skin) will help control swelling and pain. Any prolonged or severe reaction should be checked by a Doctor.

If you are swelling up or having trouble breathing, go to the emergency room.
If you have a severe rash, go to the doctors office for a steroid pack.
If it is just local swelling, wash and disinfect carefully, remove stinger with a magnifying glass and tweezers, clean with alcohol. Then make a paste of baking soda and water and put onto it and buy some benadryl pills to take for symptoms.

I've had to treat stings on myself and my husband.

Make a paste of salt, baking soda, and water or vinegar and dab that on the stings after you get the stinger out.

But if you're having an allergic reaction, get to the emergency room.

Benadryl ointment or cream will help reduce the sting/itch. Also in oral form helps a bunch. Be sure you aren't going to be driving or such if taking the oral as it will make you sleepy. There are home remedies such as applying moist baking soda or mud or rubbing alcohal to the sting. All of these things will help. Good Luck!

If you are not allergic; use warm water after removing the tail. If it is early afre the sting, Put the stung area in hot water as hot as you can bear after dissolving salt in the water "1 cup water = 1 Cup salt".

If your hand or arm has not ballooned in size then there is nothing you have to do. The little bit of swelling will subside and the sting will go away soon.

You may think that I'm being a smart a$$, but I'm not...... get yourself a can of WD-40. It will not only take that sting away but stings from fire ants also.

You may need to see a doctor. Everytime I get stung I have a worse and worse reaction. I now have to carry an Epi Pen with me because one day my reactions could be deadly.

If the reaction stays localized, cold compresses and topical pain/itch creams can help.
