Probably the best overall player that will play more than any other is VLC.

The one above is for PC and the one below is for Mac

Next depending on what all else you plan to do as far as video is concerned you may very well need to download additional programs, It's just goes with the territory

well i'm not sure that it handle all types // audio /video
how does 59 types sound?(audio /video combined)
it is the one that i know of that handles the most types of files
and that would be..............
FREE "jet audio basic" !!!!(it has some awesome features as well)
cd burner / enables you to type out playlists / soundrecorder(enables you to create WAV sound files/in case you want to create a different kind of sound for your computer/) special effects /(check out the hidden panel on the right side/ (click that sideways v shaped thing there) also hidden panel on bottom(v shaped thing) // this is your computers sound control !!!(so be careful, make sure you know what you are doing if you make changes on that bottom pull down panel)
oh and it also has a fantastic lyric database(printable) (internet connection required of course for lyric finder)
i use version 6.2.8 just look for site that handles older versions
if you want this one
cause they are at version 7. ?
and i do not like the newest version

so a procedures as i understand, iMovie is the only loose editor that may help mov data. If u are no longer a Mac consumer, u ought to transform mov. And that's a loose video converter named mepg streamcilp that may help u convert mov to mpg or avi wmm can help.

GOM Player will play almost all media and audio files. If it can't, it will search the net for a codec automatically.
