I wear makeup when I'm in the mood to have a man open a door for me or smile at me (besides my husband, I mean. He always does that, bless his heart). I have always heard that women do that to impress other women, but I have not found it to be so in my experience. Women always smile at me, but sometimes I notice a chilly reception from men, because I'm really not very attractive physically. Makeup must make a little improvement for me--hence the improved reaction. But I don't always wear it.

Some women truly need make-up. They look tired and sick without it, especially if they've worn it for years and years. I personally wear it only when I'm going somewhere, but rarely do I put on make-up to go to work. Some women can't live without make-up. It's like a drug. Anyway, I doubt that a man had anything to do with this and I don't see a man forcing a woman to wear make-up.

some women wear makeup to enhance their features.
some women wear makeup to cover up their "imperfections".
I don't think men force them to do it, it's a personal preference. I don't believe in putting all that junk on my face. I just groom my eyebrows and keep my skin radiant and healthy.
And there are men out there that wear makeup as well. Probably for the same reason that women do.

Obvious is it not? Be honest, would you be attracted fo a plain Jane? I bet you my last dollar you wouldn`t care to take a second look if one were to walk in front of you. Nobody forces them to doll up it is just their nature wanting to look pretty thats all. Don`t forget some men also do that these days. Ha ha.

It's about more than impressing a man. It can make a woman feel good to step out of the house looking her best, it gives a boost of confidence.

Not all women wear make-up. Some women like and know how to apply make-up while some don't know how to or don't want to for various reasons. Women who wear make-up feel they look much better with it.

Any men force them, just women can look better with make up if its the right one, for exaple, make the eyes a bit bigger or the lips more atractive...
Since a lot of centuries ago, make -up was used, since Egipcians, 4,000 before Christ, even men used... in case you dont know, in XVI to XIX century men used make up also and heavy, in fact...
Why not men use too? about me, me wouldn't make them gay??:)

Most men don't have acne and freckles. Nor a desire to look cute in that way.
I'm treated much better when I wear makeup than when I don't. People assume I don't feel well on days I don't wear it. And they're right, but I just say I didn't feel like wearing it. I use makeup to hide how ill I feel.

some do it because they feel their face is not presentable as it is. there is a crisis in self image that has largely been caused by the media and the fashion industry presenting personal images that the majority of the people will NEVER obtain.
