After christmas im getting my boyfriend a playstation 3, can sum1 tell me whether or not playstation 3 plays playstation 2 games.
Or wud i be better getting a Xbox360? Or maybe a Nintendo Wii.
I really dnt know what to get, anyone give me sum ideas and help plz thanks x x x x x x

I think a Nintendo Wii is better than Playstation 3.

The Playatation 3 80 gig can paly PS2 games, and it comes with a free PS3 game. The PS3 40 gig comes with Spider man 3 blu-ray and does not play PS2 games. The playstation 3 has free online gaming and almost no possibility of failing. The Wii games are almost always a collection of shallow minigames that you'll get bored with and he'll trade it in a year. The 360 has an incredib;e selection of games, but it costs to play online and 1 out of 3 will die. Get the PS3 or 360, but don't get him the wii. I've had friends who were diehard fanboys about the wii when it first came out, then sold it 3 months later because it only sold pathetic little tech demo minigames.

The PS3 comes in 4 versions: 20GB, 40GB, 60GB and 80GB ! Of the 4 versions, all but the 40GB will play PS2 games !
The 20GB and 60GB are no longer in production ! The 40GB will not play PS2 games but the 80GB will play a limited amount of PS2 games.
If you purchase an 80GB model, you'll one free game (Motorstorm) and five free blu ray movies ! The offer may be expiring soon for the movies ! The 40GB model comes with a a free copy of "Spiderman 3" blu ray dvd !
The 80 or 60 GB models are the best choices here ! Do a google search and you may find some 60GB still for sale !

If you get the 40 gb PS3, then it will NOT play PS2 games. If you get the 20, 60, and 80 gb version, then it can play PS2 games. Most likely, you'll get a choice between the 40 and 80 gb version.
Get the Wii if you want to play along with your boyfriend. Most Wii games are meant for multi-players offline.

Ps3 can also play Ps2 games, The selection of ps3 game isnt as great as a xbox 360 selection of games which is much better. Xbox360 = Selection of games. Ps3 = Quality of usage and details.

i would defienetly recommend a ps3, that way he can play online for free, on the 360 it is 60$ a year. The ps3 would be a great investment, and dont waste your money on a wii, if he isnt OBSESSED with motio sensing, that is all the wii does.

get him the PS3 60GB but if u cant get hold of that get the 80GB or the 40GB if he doesn't care abt backward capabilities
