I'm trying to find remote control codes of my (broken) Hitachi clu-691gr remote control...I have a universal remote control program on my sony ericcson which programs INDIVIDUAL BUTTONS using .irc files. It has no problem absorbing directly from working remotes but this one is broken.

Do you guys know of any way I can download FREE--and this is important too--the code of the hitachi clu-691gr with most of the special functions included ("Menu" funciton, for example)?

(And no, I don't want to buy a new one...)

Thanks guys and Happy Holidays!

Marc might be right about Hitachi providing you raw hex codes.

If not, try http:/www.remotecentral.com. They specialize in all things remote control. If you don't find your answer, ask in their forums. If it's possible, someone there will know how.

Then there's the way I would do it...
Go to your local retailer and ask to borrow a Hitachi remote so you can learn the codes into your Sony. Most likely, the codes will be exactly the ones you will need since manufacturers don't change their codes very often.

I also have symphonic tv and use a zenith universal remote control. For Sanyo remote control, you have to do the following steps- 1.Turn on the device (TV) to be controlled 2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the red indicator remains on, then release the CODE SEARCH button 3. Press and relase the desired Mode Button(TV,VCR etc.) The red indicator blinks off once. 4. Press and relase the numeric button 5 5. Press the channel up button (( or POWER or PLAY (VCR only)) repeatedly until the device to be controlled changes channel. 6. Press and release MUTE to install the code.
