Intense pain, momentarily

If you are getting this pain after eating, especially fatty foods, it could be your gall bladder. Another less likely problem would be with your liver. Either way, you should get to your family physician to get it checked out.

If it is JUST below your ribcage, it might just be abdominal cramps.

If it is a bit more than a hand's breadth below your ribcage, it could be your appendix.

If the pain continues for more than 3-4 hours, go to the emergency room.

If the pain becomes very intense, and then stops, and you get purple redness on your skin around the area that hurts, have a friend drive you to the emergency room or call an ambulance, your appendix may have just ruptured.

that can be having gallstones in your gallbladder.
i had that a couple years ago.
the intense pain that comes momentarily are the "gallstones" trying to get out of your gallbladder.
my doctor said that can be really dangerous and it was good that i had gotten into the E.R. before it became serious.
a few months later i ended up having surgery and they removed my gallbladder.
you need to go get checked ASAP before the pain intensifies.
trust me, it's painful. every breath you take will be VERY painful. it's better safe than sorry.
i can't think of anything else except that being "gallstones".

it could be , keyword being "could", Liver inflammation, if you apply pressure there and it is painful I would suggest you go have labwork done for your liver. A lot of people with Hepatitis that has caused damage and liver scarring can cause some pain, although ther are no nerve endings in the liver it still can be painful

Many times this is gas in the large intestine. Gallbladder disease can be felt in the right ribcage area too.

And you're asking us?? Could only be a hundred different things. See a doctor, not us. We're not doctors and we can't give you an exam, sorry.

if it's after exercise or anything, it sounds like a stitch.
which is nothing to be worried about.
but if you're sure it's not that, consult your local doctor.
