I thought Muslims only had one god, Allah. And from what I know, Allah is the same as the Christian god, God.

well, we can't mix up the two religion. It is so clear in Islam that the God is Allah who created the whole world. Muhammed, Jesus, Moses, Nohs, Abraham, Jacob, Issac, David, Solomon, Josef, Ismael.......etc are only messengers of Allah. They are only human beings. Allah chooses the holy virgin Mary to be the mother of Jesus with no father but that doesn't mean Allah is the father because God can created anything from nothing as he created Adam. So we can't say Adam is the son of god. This is our believe in Islam. So that is why we can't compare it with the christian believe of trinity. Also I think we should ask the Jewish the same question. I am just explaining I mean no offense to ANY RELIGION.

first of all it is Son not Sun. Anyway, the 99 names are 99 descriptions, like the Merciful, the Protector, The Creator, The Provider, etc. It's all one god but with several descriptions as to his name. The figure 99 is not a stated figure in Koran, but to find something for Muslims to learn and know, they collected those Names (descriptions) in an attempt to further understand God.

I am not going to dwell on the Trinity coz i was never able to truely understand it, but one thing i will say, our God is your God. We just percieve him differently. We don't like calling the one God 'three', but the matter of fact is, our respect and understanding of God is very close to yours. So let it be as it may, and lets all live in peace.

Peace out Christian brothers and sisters.

Muslims have only one God and it's Allah.

As you mentionned "99 names" not "99 manifestations of God" like in Christianism (except a few denominations) there are 3 manifestations of God, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

If a man has 99 names, he does not own 99 bodies but one.

In fact, the 99 names are attributes of God which God should have.

In the old testament (not sure which book)the God of the Bible is said to have 7 names(if i remember correctly) Jehovah being one, and others I cant remember, that have meanings such as "The Great Healer" and so on...There is only one God in The Holy Bible and in the Koran, as i understand, He is one and the same...Although Christians believe in Jesus as being the Son of God and the Savior of the world from sin...Muslims do not...Some Christians believe that Jesus is God, some do not, it depends on which denomination's beliefs they subscribe to. Remember Muslims see Jesus as a Great Prophet in their own religion so they are not really that different however in the Bible Jesus said "No man comes to the Father but through Me"....Peace and Blessings

The Christian trinity consists of the Father, Holy Spirit and Christ. They are names for one God, for each of the three have the same attributes (omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, eternal, Lord, God, Almighty, involved in creation, truth, sanctifying, giving eternal life, raising the dead and inspiring the prophets). They describe one being - God. Similarly the 99 names of Allah are attributes not 99 gods.

I appreciate your qeustion a million,

The 99 names, are not only for the sake of having names, but they are discriptions of Almighty Allah, here is a site that tells you all the names and the meaning of each one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Names_of_God_in_the_Qur'an

The trinity talks about how God is 3 in one. The 99 names of Allah are not deviding Allah/god in any way or form. If you need more info, write me back and i'll be glad to answer.

There are three distinct Personalities in the Trinity; God acting out in Three Manifestations. However, God has more than 99 names but they are not usually seen in the English language. In the original languages (Hebrew and Greek), He is known as "The Provider", "The Self Sufficient One", "The Healer", "The Sustainer"............. just to name a few.
In these titles, He is shown to be the Source for any situation encountered by His Chosen ones. Each challenge in life is met with Him as the Answer to each condition.

There aren't 99 Gods, just 99 names. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all monotheistic religions and God/Allah is one.
