hi your grandson must be taking a lot of calpol for it to be causing this problem, as he is 3 he will be on a varied diet that should allow him to go to the toilet, my daughter when she was teething at 3months got constipated even though she was taking water too, and she could take solids like fruit to help her bowels move naturally. I dont know why he is on calpol, but i dont think this is what is making him constipated. Medised contains paracetamol like calpol which can cause constipation but only if it is being given a lot. I would talk to the gp for answers to this. Try junior disprol which disolves in water that may help. Good luck

Have a chat the the chemist - i found that kids nurofen syrup was good but you cant use it if he has asthma - also try the calpol again but perhaps with some fruit afterwards - satuma , raisins etc as this may help to keep things moving for him.
i hope he feels better

it is unusual for calpol to make a child constipated. Dehydration is a more likely cause...

Ibuprofen syrup 100mg/5mls this is used in the hospitals.
are you sure its the Calpol that makes your son constipated?
It could be that when he is unwell he doesn't drink enough.

Prune juice, apples, oranges, other fruits and vegetables. It doesn't have to be a medical choice just a food change. Also more water in his diet will help the problem.
