Is there anybody else who feels an absolute joy and sense wonder and fulfillment when learning about the true scientific reasons for the how the universe and everything that is in it came to be ?

Do you feel an immense sense of wonder and amazement when you contemplate the sky at night and marvel at all we have learnt about our orgins and existance and all that there is still to know ?

Finally do you think that this joy and wonder is far superior to simply accepting ancient dogmatic myths as a way of explaining the world around us

Yes. We live in a wondrous place, and rejecting this world amounts to rejecting everything.

I'm often elated when I look at the real things around me. "Absolute joy" is an excellent description, yes.

I'm going to agree with you... finding out "How" is truly exciting. Seeing how complex everything is, to understand a little bit more than we did before, makes all the research well worth the time.

And yes, I feel an immense sense of wonder and amazement when I contemplate the night sky.

And that's the beauty of Science and Religion...one teaches me "How"...the othere teaches me about "who".

See...being a Christian does not mean I am intellectually divorced from examining science.

see friend, the ancient dogma, u say must not be accepted blindly, because it made feel same as u are feeling,
and trying for Real answers for life mysries.

instead i would ask that how much of the old text have u read rather practising that is written in them.
it is not easy to do that because u have to do such things that today nobody wants to.

so blaming these thingss is a dogmatic nature of yours, you should try to practise not justt beleive,

say,, exersise is good for health, what if i said that " no, walking is not good, but going gym and pull some weights is more good"
if i have never walked as a exersise, all is in vain.

so try out these things for a year or so.. and u'll get your answer

Just remember, ten years from now those "true scientific reasons" will be obsolete, replaced by a whole new set of scientific reasons which will also be superseded when their time is up, and so on. I'm a Christian and I don't accept anything blindly.

Hey, you can't really say "Gee, don't you think the way I look at the world is so much better and fulfilling than how THEY look at the world?"

Who are you to tell who FEELS more JOY?

This question is ridiculous.

Have you read "Unweaving the Rainbow"?

You're far from alone when it comes to thinking like this.

Absolutely. You've reminded me of the reason why I'm in the sciences. Thanks.
