Resignation letters can be as much or as little as you would like. Keep them positive and remember that the end goal is to maintain a positive relationship with the employer.

Due to Relocation

Dear (manager name),

This resignation letter is to inform you that my last day at (company name) will be June 15th, two weeks from today. I will be relocating to Orlando, FL to pursue a new endeavor.

I have appreciated the opportunities and experiences that have been provided to me during my 3 years of service for (company name). If there is anything I can do to be of assistance during the transition, please let me know.

Letter Of Resignation Moving

Usually for a letter of resignation the best advice is keep it short and simple.

However, in this case you have been a long term employee and you may wish to say something a little more personal, which would be completely acceptable.

You could start by saying that it is with regret that you tender your resignation for family reasons. Mention that you are moving interstate so commuting is not an option.

Thank the firm and your boss for the chance to work as part of the team for seven years.

That would normally be enough, but if you have enjoyed your time with them, you could tell them that. Simply say you have enjoyed working with the firm, and will miss the comradeship, great people and the feeling of being part of a team providing genuine and honest service to people.

Try to advise your leave no more than four week's prior to your departure, unless you are a skilled specialist it will take them months to replace. You should mention your willingness to work a couple of extra 'help out' weeks to the management directly, rather than in the letter.

Best wishes with your move!

Cheers :-)

Just state what you have said in your post. "You regret having to resign, you have enjoyed working for the company, but due to a family situation you must move." Give them a month's notice and offer to remain for that period of time if they wish so they will have time to find a replacement. Also offer to help train your replacement if they would like you to. If they decide to let you go upon your resignation, it's up to them. At least you have left on good terms and can get a good referral after your move. Most companies will be understand that life changes, and sometimes you have to make hard choices for the sake of your family. Just don't leave them short handed.

I agree that you should include the details you included in your post. Use Stephanie's introduction, but do make it more personal than a form letter since you had such a positive experience. Make sure to mention that you will miss your boss and coworkers, since I'm sure they will miss you! Good luck with your move : )

sir - the manner you are mangaing the company is really great but still i feel that if I stay here more for a few months then i'm afraid that ppl would start thinking that I am the boss....so to avoid such a delicate situation within next 30 - 60 days i request you to please allow me to resign.....this would be best for both of us.
Thanks.

I would thank them for the opportunities. Let them know you enjoyed working for (and with) them. At that time you may want to let them know you would be available during the month of February.
