Well first of all I should tell you that it won't be a good idea to sedate him. There are airlines won't allow a sedated dog to come on the plane.
Get a create and use that for him to sleep in at night and to spend an hour or so in while your away somewhere. He'll get used to that create and won't be afraid of traveling in it by the time you have to go with him to Norway. Put something like an old pillow or blanket for him to be comfy in and give him something to chew on, like a nylabone, pig ear, etc. He won't have much stress if hes traveling in something that hes used to and is from home.

Hope this helps you. I had an acquaintance move from Connecticut, USA to Singapore with her FOUR Siberian Huskies!!!
She has written good, detailed information about moving the dogs. I know the countries are different and I know that the breeds are different. But, I really hope this helps you with your move. And, NEVER give up your dog just because you are moving.
Here is the link to where my friend's story begins:

It is on a Siberian Husky rescue web site in one of their newsletters. I hope it helps.

Get him used to one of those dog carriers by using it as his bed at home. He will be used to it when you travel and wont go all crazy in the carrier. Make sure the carrier is comfortable with a blanket and/or a favourite toy.

Go to your vet before you go which you will have to do anyway and he will give you advise. Mine is to make sure your dog has some familiar toys and bedding to go with. This will help him alot. You can also practice putting him in a similar box/creat to what he will be traveling in 1st for a short time and gradually make it longer. this will help him alot.

Scullcap and Valerian tablets, not a sedative, but definitely calms the dogs and helps as my son uses it when flying his dog from Louisiana to California

Try using his bed (bean bag, cage, etc.)when taking him on flight.
Or maybe try using the Scullcap tablet...

Tranquilzers and lots of sleep,.. he MAY be ok with that, but you may need to get your vet to prescribe them for the trip. If not, then he's gonna have to be left with another loving family in the UK I guess, start searching for a loving new home for him asap JUST in case,. I very much doubt you'd want to have him put down. Good luck either way.

OK this is a touchy issue. How does your dog not travel well? What modes of transportation are open to you? Worst case scenario is you have to get rid of him. Too vague...
