Why is it that I can order and have ammunition shipped right to my door, but it's a crime for me to ship ammunition to someone?
What's so harmful about shipping a few boxes of shells to my cousin to do some skeet shooting with anyway?

Businesses such as Midway USA and Cheaper than Dirt have special licenses and clearances from the federal, and where needed, the state governments involved, including special insurance to cover shipment & handling of HazMat goods.

In the US you are required to get a Federal Firearms License to ship, sell and remanufacture for sale all ammunition. The FFL is also required to manufacture, ship or offer for sale as a commercial venture all firearms. Private sales are not restricted to licenses holders YET. A group of Stupid people are working their skanky butts off to make that happen however.

FedEx will ship them ground only. I know cause I've doneit. Tell them what You are shipping, pay the haz mat fee plus s&h.

You have to fill out a declaration of hazards. Hazdecs are hell and you have to be certified to do so.

you don,t have a Federal dealers lic,
so they know where you ship to, and who you sell to,

You probally need a license to do so. You think they let anybody sell bullets and distribute them unknowlingly. You just have to personally give them to them and hope they dont shoot someone cause they have ways of tracking bullet shells...
