Christians make all sorts of ludicrous claims. They are prepared to force their views upon others. Yet, try to enter your opinion into their groups and you will be told you are not wanted or, at best, they will "instruct" you via email. They obviously want to operate in pristine conditions where no non-believer is allowed to show them how wrong they might be. In other words, they really are doubtful about their beliefs and want to keep assuring each other that there really is a God. They certainly do not wish to risk enlightenment. Kenneth.

I am convinced that you hate God, whether you know it or not.

Jesus tell us, in Matthew 7:6, KJV:

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

If you come before a true christian with hatred for the true God, and a desire to cause trouble, you are swine. The true christians should not speak to you about things they hold dear. It would cause them physical, emotional, and spiritual harm and distress.

Through a medium such as email, the christian, who loves you and wants you to see the truth, can do God's work through writing, without exposing themselves to you harmful behavior.

Deist/atheist debates have been staged but they so often collapse if there is a predominantly deist audience.
Even in 'private', deists have long-learned to dismiss logic, reason and common-sense and do tend to plug their ears to anything that challenges their belief that there is a supernatural entity above the clouds.
All the evidence suggests that this is nonsense but the deists would rather hear a good sermon from a priest than listen to an atheist explaining how deluded they are.
It is similar to telling your wife that her new hairstyle is a disaster. She doesn't want to hear that! She will get angry. You are criticising her choice, her taste, her sense of style.
Religious folk have a particular mind-set, installed when they were little kids and they want those cuddly stories about heaven and an eternal life alongside Jesus that they will NOT accept anything that destroys those illusions.
That's childhood indoctrination for you. It is very powerful.

Yeah, I've pretty much been berated every time I answer a question on here because I don't believe in God or the Bible, or whatever. These "Christians" on here get pretty angry when you try to use logic and intelligence instead of imagination.

Sure, there's some imaginary guy in the sky watching everything you do. Whatever helps you people sleep at night.

Not all of them. I have seen the "shut 'em up, shut 'em down" kind of responses IRL and on line, but if you don't shut up or go away, they give up on that after a while and actually engage.

There are some who raise the roof if an atheist comes anywhere near them (including by participating here), but if it really bothered them, there wouldn't be so many who stay here and ask atheists questions. A lot of the questions are obviously intended to push buttons and provoke anger, but there are also a lot of honest questions that are "just out of curiosity", and some of them are really good questions.

In nearly two years of participating here, I have seen a lot of theists deconvert to atheism (I was one of them, actually), but it doesn't seem to go the other way around. Perhaps that is why some theists try to push atheists out of their midst - so that nobody loses their faith. So you are absolutely right when you say that they "certainly do not wish to risk enlightenment", but simply by using this site, they do just that.

in case you like the uncomplicated fact as I see it, we're not achieveing something on the 2d. although, as long as Maddie is lacking i'm going to proceed to A) have confidence that her mothers and fathers have been negligent and much greater suitable than purely "naive" (as they positioned it) and B) Make my voice and opinion heard. I even have as plenty actual as everybody to my opinion, and from what i've got seen interior the click, there ought to be a balanced debate on the difficulty. If that's the only place to try this, then so be it. The ramifications of the McCann's movements will proceed to unfold for an prolonged time, IMHO. in spite of the fact that if Maddie is got here across (alive, I desperately wish) the concern of mothers and fathers shirking their responsibilty and being praised for it extremely is terrifying. Do you genuinely think of that this may not result different situations of youngster forget interior the destiny? Why is it ok for them, yet no longer for everybody else to flow away their infants in a subject that grew to become into risky and extremely stupid? Maddie and her secure practices have constantly been my considerable concentration subsequently, I actually have a 9 12 months previous and a 6 12 months previous myself, although i'm no longer likely to connect the "deification" of a pair who failed of their responsibilities as mothers and fathers. it extremely is that straightforward. As I pronounced, the click interior the united kingdom seems to be frightened of frightening the McCann's, and that they do have my private, sincerest sympathy for what they are having to undergo, even though it extremely is not something to what's happening (God Forbid) or has got here approximately to their unfavourable newborn. I refuse to stand by employing and enable a whitewash ensue concerning this occasion. they should take accountability for what they did no longer do, and as Yahoo solutions is the only place that seems to permit a (particularly) balanced debate, that's the place i'm going to stay. i'm hoping that grew to become into rational and inoffensive sufficient for you, and that i too pray to any Gods that she will have the potential to be got here across secure and sound, yet my subject is together with her, no longer the thoughts of her mothers and fathers who (we could no longer forget) left their 3 infants on my own, in an unlocked room each and every evening for 4 nights.

What a spectacular question.

The answer is in dominionist religious doctrine. Their religions share the same common, primitive, Middle-Eastern, jealous, tribal, patriarchal root.

Interfaith dialogue would be the one thing that could save the world from their warring...

However, they are convinced that they are important leading roles in their imaginary 'End Of World' play.

How can one persuade them to leave the stage and stop bickering?

Although some scientists have adapted their faith quietly so it doesn't conflict with evidence most non-scientists don't have the knowledge to even begin to defend their views. It's obvious that in order to spread their faith, they would have to study the "enemy" but most prefer to huddle together reaffirming each others beliefs. Unless a religion adapts it will fall into error and like the dinosaurs will die.

Christians have no evidence to contribute to such a discussion, except maybe attempting to throw the fear of god into others.
