Hey!
God is infinitely loving and caring. That's the largest reason I don't believe in hell. Also, I don't believe in a god that allows Satan the Devil to live and do what he loves most: torture humans.
Hell is an English word. The Bible was not written in English. The words Hell is based off of is She'ol and Hades, which both refer to the common grave of mankind, or just plain death. People who do not choose to follow God are killed, and then refrain from existing. They become nothing, void, non-existent.
People who do not follow God will be given a chance to choose him. But people who are truly bad? No, they just get destroyed.
As for Revelations and the Lake of Fire, it says that God will place Satan and his minions, and death itself inside it to burn. What happens when you burn something? It disintegrates. If it disintegrates, than it does not exist anymore. So, it's talking about the ultimate destruction of Satan, his minions, and even the memory of all the people who were bad and had died.
I hope that clears everything up for you. Hell is a horrible belief, as far as I'm concerned. Why would you believe in a god who would allow evil to live forever, and suffering to endure throughout time?
Luv ya,
Tashi :)

The christian god is not only infinitely loving, he is also almighty. So he could stop this sadist fairground at once.
If logic applies to god: he does not exist, or is not AND almighty AND loving. Pick your choice.
It is amazing to see that
A. the concept of eternal punishment appears only very late in the bible
B.That early theologians have several times pointed at the lack of logic in the existence of hell. But the RCC authorities have always chosen for hell instead of logic. Even the late pope JP2 has used the existence of hell to check theologians.
As I said: people in the christian department go to hell because they punish against god. I feel that punishment should be determined by the deed and the perpetrator in the first place, not by the qualities of the victim.

To Christians: What's the Point of Hell?
If God is infinitely loving and caring, why would he sentence those who do not follow him but possibly could to everlasting torment?
Surely, he would simply place non-believers in a place where they would be lonely and out of his grace until they repented. A type of limbo I suppose. Hell doesn't seem like a place that would be created by a loving God, that's all.

god didn't create hell
cold=non existence of heat
evil= non existence of god
get it?
you honestly think that god wants people to go to hell?
no he doesn't thats why he wants us all to repent
if there is no hell then why would god take all those horrible non believers that sad crap about jesus and perform all those sins to heaven?
there has to be an alternative although it doesn't sound pretty
you know what people say there is not god
so maybe hes showing those people where there is no god
here go on youtube type in 23 minutes in hell
that will teach you some more about what you want to know
=)
hope i helped

That is a false teaching.
Hell is simp-ly man's grave.
It will be gone along with death.
(REVELATION 20:14) And death and Ha′des were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.
Many have confused 'Hades' with 'the lake of fire'
Hades is Greek for Hell.
It is going to be eliminated.
So what is a companion of death...it can only be the grave
No death=no grave/s
Another name for the lake of fire is Gehenna...It simply means total destruction.
Nowhere in the Bible does it state that we are further punished anywhere after we die.
(ROMANS 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.
Wages is full payment.
Our death fully pays for our committed sins.
We owe nothing further after death that requires further punishment.

Nice thinking. I'm an atheist by the way. If the christian god supposedly created all of us, and is, like you said, loving and caring, how could he possibly send non-believers to a place like hell?
If he does this to scare people into believing, how stupid is that? That is creating falseness, people saying they believe in something to others, but inside they don't believe. Why would a god want this?

Rejecting God is the SIN that sends one to Hell. Yes God "is" a loving God but He is a wise JUDGE as well, and that is what Hell is about, it's about judgment for those who made God their enemy in this life. Don't try to outsmart God it is impossible, just yield to Him and enjoy the benefits of sensible living, a good reputation, a peace that passes all understanding and Heaven when we take our last breath.

Hell was created for Satan and his followers. Satan's job is to get as many of us to go with him as possible as a means to "get back at God" because God loves each and every one of us so much. Unfortunately for many, God is just. He stated the terms, He has to hold to His Word.

What about to some purgatory? I believe in Christian religion but I will more than likely go to hell . God gave everything to us even free will and saved us with his only son so we can have everlasting life. I guess that's the least he can expect of us.

God's justice demands sin be punished otherwise God cannot be called a Just God.....God's love was born as Jesus and took upon Himself the punishment on behalf of all...you only need to believe in His love
