Hands down, James Taylor's "You've Got a Friend." It still makes me cry.
Here's a YouTube link to his classic performance of the song with Carole King. Though his voice is even richer today, I forgot how much hair he once had!
The second link is for the lyrics.

Find Out Who Your Friends Are by Tracy Lawerence, Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. The lyrics are very true. They point out how everyone is your friend when you actually have something, but after it's gone, not as many people are around.

I love the two mentioned - James Taylor is #1 that comes to mind, theme song from Friends is also really good.
One that I love is "You're My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw, but it's more romantic in nature.

"You've Got a Friend"
When you're down and troubled
and you need a helping hand
and nothing, oh nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights
You've got a friend.
meaningful lyrics and lovely song between friends.

My friends are so depressed
I feel the question
Of your loneliness
Confide... `cause Ill be on your side
You know I will, you know I will

"A lifetime's not too long to live as friends."
It's from a song by Michael W. Smith.
