If you tell someone NOT to do something, they do it. :D lol

I'm an atheist by the way.

Scientists aren't actually completely sure that homosexuality is carried in the genes. And you aren't born gay either. Sexual orientation emerges very early on in life and cannot be changed. Scientists agree that sexual orientation is most likely the result of a complex interaction of environmental, cognitive and biological factors
http://www.apa.org/topics/orientation.html

I want to know, Christians, if your god created all human beings, why does he say homosexuality is a sin, when indirectly (or directly, I don't know), he created this 'sin'?

I read a few of your answers and I have to disagree with some. Years ago we lived in an apartment complex and right across the street, lived a man his wife and three children. The oldest boy was very much a boy. He played football and all the sports and was a joy to his dad.

The youngest boy, never desired to play football or any sports. He always wanted to play with dolls, he had a tea set and when he asked for a play stove for Christmas, I warned the mother,(my wife's cousin) that she was possibly causing this child to be effiminate. She cousulted her family doctor, who said it was a phase that he would eventually out grow. He never did. Today he is a hairdresser in New York and very successful. His brother is in the Marines and is a physician, and he has a sister who is gay, never married, and lives with another woman .

I believe that the youngest boy was born Gay as was his sister. I do , however, on the other hand believe that some people choose to become gay for what ever reason they choose.

If a child is born gay, there must be a physiological reason for it. It could be caused by some dominant gene in one side of the family or the other.

I also believe that the God I worship, is fair and just. I believe He loves us as we are, as he created us the way we are. I believe as the Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination to God, He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. But the wonderful aspect of it all, is that God forgives sin. He did not call upon me and you to be a judge, that is His job.

All gays I know were really born gay. They already exhibit gay actions even when they were still a child. It has never been a matter of choice. Yet Christianity still can't accept that fact and still continue to argue that it is a sin that can be avoided. Though other Christians believe it is not a sin to be gay, they consider the gay activities to be sinful. They still want gay people to lie to themselves and pretend they are not gay. How ironic.

With all due respect, the "scientific discovery" of anything is suspect to me.

There used to be the "scientific fact" that the world was flat, that the speed of the horseless carriage was too much for humans, that the sound barrier couldn't be broken, that one race was superior to another, etc.

As a Christian, I've had to learn the hard way (and I'm still learning) that when a "fact" comes in conflict with the Word, the "fact" winds up being the one to change.

It's not a choice to be gay, though it is a choice to live as a gay person- not a bad choice, by the way. I chose to be the person I am happiest being. If that makes a fictional demon my bedfellow, well, at least there's someone to keep that side of the bed nice and toasty.

And I MEAN toasty...

>:)

I'm interested in knowing if those who think it's a choice know this from personal experience. Come on. Everyone's got their thing...

Why can't Atheists look at this question? That's kinda stupid. And I don't care what you think, I'm going to answer your question anyway. So screw you.

People are born gay. Simple as that. They aren't made that way, or decide to be that way. Honestly, do you even know anyone who is gay? Because you wouldn't even be asking this inane question if you did.

And there has never been one single gene proven to be a "gay gene." I'm a biology major, so I'm pretty if there was, it wouldn't be called "the devil's gene." That's just ignorance.

You should try researching things before you assume they're true. Use your internet for good, instead of for asking stupid questions like this.

We could debate weather your born straight or gay, and if it choice or not. Let’s say you have a gene that say's your gay and you’re strait. God says homosexuality is an abomination to him.
Then the gay person has a choice, do I get my groove on or do I follow God and don't practice homosexuality?
Their are people that choose to follow Gods plan, straight or gay.
Many straight people choose not to ever have sex by choice.

Gay people don't decide to be gay any more than straights decide to be straight.

The absurd "it's a choice" claim was used by the church to persecute us evil left-handers at one time, as well. They're terrified of diversity.

if scientists actually do discover a "gay gene" you let me know. Lust after one of the same sex is a sin, just like anyother sin, except this one becomes a lifestyle. There are many out there who know it's wrong, but are tempted, just like with other sin. I have known guys were trapped by homosexuality, but are now as straight as any straight man. It is a choice. Unfortunately it becomes easier for so many to accept it rather than realize that its all a lie.

It's a choice absolutely

And genes can be affected by choices, especially by those that preceeded(parents)

The only exception being physical characteristics, everything else can be affected by the parents having lived a good healthy life so that when they have kids those good traits would be passed to the kids.

P.S.-Show me a gay person that suposedly cant change that they're gay, and I show you 2 that were gay and did choose to change.
