I do. I'd imagine others do too.

I do..... I don't always give gifts to everyone.... Sometimes I find X stuff that I know X friend will like, and I buy it and give it to her for her birthday... and then I won't buy her a gift for Xmas, I will buy a present for someone else... My friends and I have never cared much about gifts so we seldom give something to each other. I have many friends so I probably couldn't afford to buy something for EVERYONE on Xmas and then buy 10+ b-day presents along the year. So in light of this it's highly improbable that I'll give someone a gift AND will get something in return. And I really don't expect it, I only buy gifts when I can and when I feel like and of course other people are entitled to do the same! I can't expect them to "guess" when they will be getting a present from me so they can get me a present too.

Some people give gifts to people they don't expect a gift in return from, but they do expect gifts from others. While I shouldn't say expect, it's still proper to give something back. It usually is a test from people to see if you're a decent person or not. I gave a whole bunch of gifts and got not one thing back in return. I thought I was the cheap one. I will cut back on gifts next year for sure.

I give without expecting in return. Thats just how I am, I'm a gift giver by nature.

I do. Well, at least more than 50%. Myself, I got to a point in life its better to give than to recieve. I'm not a little kid anymore and going around asking: "You got me something??". It gets old real fast. So, I started giving gifts out without in return. Espeacially, those who i give to and they said to me; I didn't get you anything. I told them; don't worry about and Merry Christmas.
Better to see someone else smile for the moment than having feeling of the novelty wearing off.

I do, and I have. If I want to give a gift, I give one; if I don't want to give one, then I don't. I don't ever give a gift with any expectation but satisfying myself that it's what is right for me to do for whatever reason.

Yes, I do......I get a very good feeling from giving gifts, and I never care about getting any. That to me is a part of the whole , "Spirit of the season".

Most do expect gifts in return. Probably a small percentage who are way more wealthier don't expect a gift in return.........yet they don't give to any Tom, Dick or Harry.

Its hard to speak for others. Some give for the true meaning of giving and some give to get.
