My dog is 5yrs old and neutered, my kitten is about 10 weeks old, and still a baby. They are starting to play together, but when they do, my dog tries to hump my kitten. Should I be worried?

Because humping isn't a sexual thing, it's a dominance thing. Your dog is dominating your kitten, letting the kitten know he rules. Well I wouldn't let him hump the cat, one day the cat will get hurt, or sick and tired of it and tear his nose open.

Much of the humping you'll see among puppies as well as among adult dogs is play. Some of it expresses dominance, but that's not always the case. Humping feels good to dogs and many dogs masterbate by rubbing themselves on rugs etc. Usually a cat will not tolerate it and will teach the dog not to do it. Some dogs do get nasty when interrupted and if you dog is big it may injure a kitten. Discourage the humping, provide more exercise and more interactive play. I have a 13-14 yr old n/m MinPin who still occasionally briefly rides on of the othermale MInPins. Even after 12 yrs of being neutered he either is remembering his PM stud dog days and feeling randy or just trying to put the 1 out of 3 male pins in his place. My s/f MinPin tries to ride my leg and she is not a dominate dog at all so she just does it cuz it feels good to her.

No, You shouldnt be worried. If you got your dog neutered at a later age it still acts like its the domanate one. even if dog are neutered they will still hump anything. It will pass and everytime your dog does it just tell it to quit. And at some point the dog will stop that behavior.

Having a new buddy in the house to play with your dog is taking a dominant posture with the new addition. Humping not always a sexual thing, it's also for dominance in the household. Don't let it upset you. As long as he doesn't do it to people it's fine. Once the kitty or your dog knows who is in charge it should stop or at least subside.

even though your dog is neutered,it is still able to feel arousal feelings, usually excitement by playing with another animal will bring this on,does'nt mean he's trying to hump the kitten,it's just a natural instinct to the dog,our dog is neutered too and still able to have sexual intercourse, they just don't produce sperm.

I would not be too concerned. As long as your kitten is not hurt then I suppose it is OK. Humping is more of a dominance thing. You cant really stop it.

one million. a male canines is going to hump, this would not replace no count if the female could nicely be bred or no longer. 2. no except she did no longer get spayed suited, she won't get pregnant using fact she had her ovaries bumped off

It's dominance behavior. Presuming the kitten is not being harmed, I wouldn't worry about it.

Dominance. It isn't sexual.

No big deal. Just normal dog behavior.

You need to teach your dog that the cat is above him. I have done this with all of my cats and my new kitten. I love watching my 3lb kitty kick my 110lb dogs behind. It is only play of course.
