What are some steps you can take if your boss, whom you work for under the table, doesn't want to pay you?

My bf is in construction and while it's cold, he just got a temp job. This guy owes him quite a bit of money. Just wondering if the labor board can help or what else he can do. He isn't working w/ him nemore.

If it is under the table, there is not a lot you can do short of threatening to 'send the boys round'...

Unfortunately whilst cash in the hand has some tax advantages, it also brings with it some risks such as not being paid what was agreed or not being paid at all. There are no laws to protect your interests. I'm sorry but there are no steps available to you outside of suing the employer in a civil court.

When you work "under the table," you have to contend with crap like this. The person you're working for has absolutely no credibility. If they did, they wouldn't be paying you "under the table." This is illegal.

The best thing you can do is to quit.

No steps.

If your b/f wanted to do a shonky deal with this boss then he cops whatever - without redress.

Serves him right, I say. B/f was happy enough to work for this bloke "under the table" but now that things have gone a bit awry youze want to dob him in.

It doesn't work that way. He made his bed - he has to lie in it!

Har har.....

There is only one step you need to take... which is out the front door and don't look back.

He or she is trying to take advantage of you because you are participating in an illegal activity with them.

You have to find a new job - it won't get any better with this person.

You reap what you sow I'm afraid.

If he wants to work under the table, he's got to realize sooner or later it WILL bite him in the ***.
