In many colleges they use E instead of F. The REAL reason the E was dropped is because it used to stand for EFFORT. If you tried really hard and were well-behaved you got an E- you failed, but it let you (and your parents) know that your effort was recognized. An F was worse because it meant you failed because you were a bad student.

First of all, some school districts DO use grades a-e with E being the failing grade. Here in Western PA, some school districts don't use F's, they use E's instead. The F stands for "failing" so they used it and just skipped the E.

There used to be a grade E
It was changed because E could be for excellent
F is now the standard for failing where E used to be.

this is merely stupid. White Castles is a very owned inner maximum chain with over 350 shops in the process dissimilar states. you think of that each and all of us those shops would get an "A" eating place score (as maximum do), in the event that they have been serving you horsemeat or some thing? it rather is the ONIONS that lead them to "repeat", no longer the beef. White fortress's are as American as apple pie... merely pay attention of the onions. attempt a gasoline X pill formerly handing over if grilled onions subject you.

I think at one time there was 6 letter grades, but the math was tougher.
So "E" got absorbed into "F".
Easier to do percentages of 5 letter grades.
Further, there are some cases where "E" is 'excellent'.

When I went to grade school and high school, E was used for failure. I suppose F is used now because failure begins with F.

Once you slip below a D, you are pretty much useless to society. So we skip the E, because we don't want you to feel like you were close to a D. You failed. Get the F out.

well it make no sence at all f = failure but A,B,C,D mean nothing so wats the point in not using e.
