If you are truly of christian faith - then don't change it just because of other people's opinions, but to be an open-minded person is to your spiritual benefit.
Yes, men evolve over time - it doesn't take us much to see it.
Did you know that original bible speaks of reincarnation and many original scrolls have so much proof of it, that leaders of the past had to hide and destroy some to enable them to keep their hold of power?
Buddhism is not the only teaching that speaks of reincarnation openly. One who is not totally brainwashed can not deny reincarnation - it's essense of our spiritual evolution.
If I had to put a finger on one word, I would say that I am a Buddhist. But like you I believe that there are certain truths in other beliefs.
Whatever you think is not wrong. It shows that you are mature enough to doubt and analyze, therefore you have a better chance to progress in your spiritual development in this life span.
It is wrong just to blindly follow what you are told. As an intelligent being you have a right to evolve, many will not like it though.

Since you state that you are a Christian- I must tell you this- where in scripture does it say that you can pick and choose what you believe? The Bible, the guide for Christians, says that "it is appointed ONCE to die, and after that the judgment"- so where does reincarnation come into this? Where in the Bible does it say that we evolved? In the old testament the Hebrews were serving God, and also "served" false gods, just in case- and what did God say about that?= "you cannot do that"
Jesus said- "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, AND NO ONE CAN COME TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME." Show me where it says in scripture where we can pick and choose from "different religions"

Here's an idea, skip church this week, buy a frickin bible, read it, decide what you believe based on your own interpretation (which by the way is as accurate as anyone else's might be), and MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND WHAT YOU BELIEVE. Stop letting other's tell you what to believe. Do the work, read several source, take in as many ideas as you can and when you feel confident that your answer is correct go with it. It doesn't matter what that answer turns out to be. If there is a GOD, you really think it care which book you read, or which church you belong to? Do you want to worship something so petty? Make up your own rules, and stop letting the zealots think for you. Good Luck

I'm sorry, but I think it is kind of wrong. Not because of morality, but logically speaking, if you're apart of a certain religious group, you can't just take the good stuff from it, and leave all the other stuff you don't agree with or believe. That's a big part of faith, is having questions like that, and searching for the answers through your own religion.

Look, before you believe any one thing over anouther first get a firm fix on the one thing. Then if you still need answers you can compare. But I must tell you Iv'e had the same thoughts and allways returned to my faith in Christ. Thourough Bible study can answer nearly all questions. And then their Prayer, ask for the Truth to be revieled to you and you may be suprized at where you recieve guidence. Seek and ye shall find.

I do this as well. I think most organized religions add their own bits and pieces to spicen things up and not all of these are good. Personally, I find it intellectual lazy to just buy the whole package without making sure all the parts are good. If not all the parts are good, buy the ones that fit and go somewhere else to get the rest to make up the whole.

I think you are being very wise. :D

Sure. It's not only OK, but it will actually enhance your main faith.

I'm a Christian living in Taiwan. Many of the Buddhist ideas I have learned here have really enhanced my life--without making me any less of a Christian.

I try to have an open mind, and I try to use the intelligence that God gave me.

Without being nasty, i think that christinity maybe isn't for you if you feel that as it is quite tedious in its rules. For example if you believe in reincarnation than you are ignoring half of christianity (Heaven and Hell).

But to answer to question yes. i believe aspects of spiritualism, paganism and buddihism. I think they three go well together and it allows me to believe what i want but have guidence in how to do things like meditate etc. I Love It!

The apostle Paul wrote: ".... one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons.”—Eph. 4:4-6.
It was not a Mixture of other Religions that pleased God but the " ONE " faith. Picking and choosing from other systems of belief outside one's own and combining that with one's present Religion is what one would call Religious Hara Kari.

Religions are made by mankind and reflect the cultures in which the members live.

I don't think god cares what you believe as long as you are compassionate and caring toward your fellow human beings.
